Editor’s Notes: Pyer Moss channels decades of black excellence for SS19, and for its FW18 campaign, the brand further spotlights the theme with its “American, Also” series, which placing an emphasis on reversing the erasure of the contributions of African-Americans and other minority groups in American culture.
By tapping popular figures and regular citizens across Chicago, Maryland, New York and California, all are categorized as modern day cowboys, like the editorial campaign portrays, as they are working to innovate and actively change their respective communities in a positive way.

The Chicago leg of the campaign features Precious Blood Ministries, Ameena Matthews of Violence Interrupters and Good Kid Mad City featuring Vic Mensa. The Baltimore leg highlights Valencia Clay and The Cowgirls of Color, while the Los Angeles leg features Angela Rye and the Compton Cowboys. Lastly, the New York leg spotlights Nadia Lopez of Mott Hall Bridges Academy.
