Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, currently number two in the world, has commissioned Sunreef Yachts to build him a new luxury yacht. Nadal chose to go with the shipyard’s latest motor yacht model, the 80 Sunreef Power catamaran, as he has visited and chartered Sunreef Yachts’ catamarans in the past.

“As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives and It’s not a secret that I love the sea,” Nadal says. “Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat. I am very happy to be on board of this Sunreef Yachts family and would like to thanks Mr. Francis Lapp for making this possible.”

Just last month the 18-time Grand Slam champion, who has racked up more than $110 million in prize money throughout his career, put his 76-foot Italian-built MCY 76 motor yacht up for sale for $3 million. His 80-foot Sunreef Power catamaran, which is to be delivered in 2020, will be fully customized. Options include a spa pool and a wet bar.

The first unit from the 80 Sunreef Power catamaran fleet is scheduled to debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September of this year.

Not NYC, not LA.
