Copenhagen watch company REC is releasing what might just be a car-lover's dream watch collection — they're inspired by the timeless Porsche 911, and made from salvaged Porsche materials.

Each watch is made from materials taken from cars that are beyond repair. The watch comes in three variations boasting top-of-the-range materials and technology, including Miyota Caliber 9100 movement, samphire crystal glass and double calf leather straps.

As well as using Porsche parts, the design is filled with subtle references to the car. Its round design is inspired by the soft corners and characteristic rear air grille of the 911, and the original Porsche font features on the watch's face.

Each watch is unique due to the different levels of patina in the car's ruins, and every watch is engraved with the original vehicle identification number of the car it came from. Even better, every watch has a scannable "Story Card," documenting the story of the 911 so you can learn a little more about how it came to be a part of your watch.

You can pre-order the 901 collection on REC's kickstarter by clicking the button below.

Afterwards, take a look at Porsche's top 5 concept cars.
