Back in July RED introduced its Hydrogen One smartphone with a holographic display. Now, The Verge is reporting that following pre-orders, the device is finally set to ship this summer.

News initially broke via RED’s CEO and founder Jim Jannard who took to the company's forum just yesterday to also detail specs for the phone. According to Jannard, carrier support for the Hydrogen One is “unprecedented” and “as good as it gets,” although he would not disclose who. Pre-order phones will be made available before carrier phones, as the former will not have to go through an approval process.

As it stands, Jannard then hinted that the Hydrogen One will likely be previewed beginning in April.

We do however know that the smartphone will run a Snapdragon 835 processor and feature a dual SIM slot and a massive 4,500mAh battery. Previous reports have noted a 5.7-inch display, USB-C and microSD card support, a headphone jack, and dual front and rear cameras, while the screen is said to display holographic four-view content.

So while Jannard and RED continue to remain somewhat secretive about the Hydrogen One, all signs are pointing to availability this summer.

Follow on to The Verge for more, as you can then pre-order the device — starting at $1,195 USD — here.
