We're big fans of the Red Wing "Postman Shoe" and were fully on board with the chukka version which appeared a few years. So, suffice to say we're already making room for the "Postman Boot" in our lives. The "#9197," to give it its official title, is a six-inch model inspired by the 1954 oxford designed for the postal service and police force. A shoe made for walking, the original was an instant success with its comfortable moldable insole and understated appearance; polishing up to a parade-worthy shine.
While Red Wing is best known for its moc-toe model, usually found peeking out of a pair of cuffed selvedge jeans, the postman has in fact been a steady best-seller for over 46 years. Somewhat of an oddity in the brand's line-up, this unassuming oddball turned out to be one of the most popular styles in the company's history, selling particularly well in Japan. This latest release combines smooth "Black Chaparral" leather with a crepe wedge sold and sturdy Goodyear Welt; being Red Wing, expect these to last a lifetime. A limited edition, sold through a select number of stores, head to the Red Wing website to find you nearest retailer.
