Rome Fortune is honestly one of the most unpredictable figures in modern hip-hop with his assortment of surprise drops that seem to materialize out of thin air. Today, we’re premiering his fresh, feel-good single “Pace,” a collaboration with French producer UZ a.k.a. two-time DMC champ DJ Troubl. Stream it below.

“‘Pace’ is based on a premise of welcoming all elemental opposition experienced along my professional journey, essentially serving as strength and condition training for an ascent,” he said in an email. “It can also be viewed as simply taking the good with the bad to make best version of yourself. After traveling solo for some months I returned back to the states with a refreshed view on how I wanted to make music again. UZ’s recently been working on very bold sounds that are quite different from what people know him from. The concept of ‘Pace’ was a stream of consciousness derived from my experiences in that time traveling. We have a lot of work together coming out this year and this is best way to kick it off”

Last year, Rome Fortune teamed up with Toro y Moi on the summer soundtrack that was Toro Y Rome Vol. 1.
