In 2017, Ruth B. officially left her Vine days behind when she dropped her long-awaited debut album Safe Haven on Columbia Records. Since then, the Canadian singer-songwriter hasn’t wasted any time and last year she dropped the tracks “Rare” and “Crave” throughout 2018. Today, we’re premiering her brand-new single “Slow Fade” along with the accompanying visual. Ruth B. explained the concept behind the D’Mile-produced track in an email to Highsnobiety which similarly echoes what Ariana Grande preached on “thank u, next”—be grateful for what you learned from expired relationships and keep it moving.

“‘Slow Fade’ is about the realization that some things just don’t work out,” she said. “The hardship that comes with letting go of something that once brought you so much joy. It’s not a bitter break up song. It’s wishing the best for someone and realizing that something better awaits you as well.”

There’s no telling what else Ruth B. has in store for 2019, but you definitely won’t want to miss out on this rising star. Fully immerse yourself in the gorgeous video for her emotional ballad below.
