Following the overwhelming success of the original picture, Variety reports that Ryan Coogler will return to write and direct the much-anticipated Black Panther sequel. In addition, Chadwick Boseman is expected to reprise his role as the titular character.

For now, however, Marvel has yet to comment on Black Panther 2, leaving us only to speculate about the plot details as well as the release date. With Coogler and Boseman back, among others, the followup picture is seemingly poised for more success.

Upon releasing in February of this year, Black Panther raked in an incredible $1.3 billion worldwide at box offices, earning $700 million in the U.S. alone, accounting for the biggest stateside box office gross for any Marvel movie.

Variety also goes on to inform that production for Black Panther 2 is expected to begin either in 2019 or early 2020. In the meantime, Coogler is listed as an executive producer on Creed II, starring Black Panther cast member, Michael B. Jordan.
