Known for bringing intricate designs to essential layering pieces, Japanese brand sacai is the creative project of Chitose Abe, who previously worked alongside Junya Watanabe before launching her own line. The latest output from Abe’s brand takes deconstruction to new heights — a coat that combines two perennial transitional jackets (trench and track) into one outerwear masterpiece.
The piece comes not long after a sacai collaborative effort with Gloverall; a jacket which combined a puffer with a classic duffel coat. For this new piece, an old school color-blocked track jacket is combined with a traditional checked wool trench coat for an instant grail, merging features from both jackets such as two-way zip closure and front button closure; high collar and hood; plus storm flaps and a drawstring hem.
As you might have expected, the attention to detail here comes with a far-from-deconstructed price tag, retailing for $2,330 at luxury men’s fashion destination MR PORTER.
