While reports of a new Samsung Galaxy S9 dropping in March to rival iPhone X were published last month, the official debut for the new smartphone is officially a month away, as Samsung confirms the 2018 flagship model, reports VentureBeat.

Consisting of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, the devices essentially maintain the signature aesthetic as first seen on the Galaxy S8, with these upcoming releases featuring component upgrades only.

Both the 5.8-inch S9 and 6.2-inch S9+ will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processors in the U.S. and China, and Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 systems-on-chip for the rest of the world -- the first differentiator between the S9 siblings (codenamed Star and Star 2). Memory configurations consist of 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage for the S9+, but the S9 will carry the same 4GB/64GB pairing like its previous generation.

Other notable features on the new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be the addition of motion-detected, "super slow-mo" video capture (480fps recording at 720p), a variable aperture adjustment feature on their primary 12-megapixel cameras, switching between f/2.4 and f/1.5, and the Galaxy S9+ adds a second 12-megapixel rear module, with a standard fixed aperture. Furthermore, the fingerprint scanner has been relocated more naturally at the bottom, along with the addition of stereo speakers and 8-megapixel frontal cameras.

Expect the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ to be unveiled on February 25, for MWC 2018 and with its official availability to begin on Friday, March 16.
