After Nintendo just announced its new NES Classic Mini console, as well as a portable gaming system with detachable controllers, Sega is taking aim at its rival by revealing plans for similar consoles.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, the Japanese company is reviving its Mega Drive brand in the form of a two-player home console. In addition, Sega is also releasing a portable gaming system, both manufactured by Chinese firm At Games.

The Mega Drive console comes with two wireless controllers and supports original Mega Drive cartridges. The portable gaming system then boasts a 3.2-inch display and a rechargeable battery with a USB charger. Each system in turn arrives with 80 built-in games, featuring such classics as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, Golden Axe and Comix Zone. Additional games can also be loaded onto SD cards for the portable console.

Each system is scheduled to ship in October, as you can go ahead and pre-order them today.
