Segway's miniPRO Is a Self-Balancing $999 Smart Hoverboard

Segway has just made its new miniPRO available for pre-order. The device — which is very similar to their Advanced Personal Robot — is not your typical hoverboard, however. Powered by Ninebot technology, miniPRO is a handsfree, two-wheel electric scooter with safer features, higher speeds and longer battery life. It's also designed so that you can ride the scooter on both indoor and outdoor terrains.

miniPRO's key components include automatic headlights, customizable LED taillights, a padded knee control bar and an adjustable height feature. The weatherproof miniPRO is also lightweight and portable, as the knee control bar can be quickly detached to make the scooter fit in small spaces.

miniPRO is powered by an 800-watt engine and tops out at 10 miles per hour. It can also travel for 14 miles on one complete battery charge.

And if you're worried about someone stealing your sweet ride, simply utilize miniPRO's antitheft and remote control app that alerts you when someone moves it.
