There have been plenty of incredible songs written in protest of the current president of the United States, and Shan Vincent de Paul’s “B***h Go” is an excellent addition the list. The Sri Lankan-born, Toronto-based rapper and director released his anti-Trump anthem back in October, and now the visuals have arrived.
We’ve got the exclusive on the emerging rapper’s self-directed music video, featuring a formidable crew of up-and-coming dancers from Toronto, including lead dancer Melissa Hannah, who de Paul calls “the true star of this video.” Although the visuals are amazing without any context, we think it’s essential you’re aware that de Paul was inspired by none other than Oprah speaking about removing negative energy from your life.
“Despite how the title may trigger people, I wanted to make an uplifting song to rid all the negative energy in our lives. I was dealing with some negativity in my life I was trying to sort out, Trump was just coming into power and then I stumbled on this clip of Oprah nailing it right on the head. The timing was perfect,” he explains in his director’s statement.
The musician’s latest music video is from his forthcoming sophomore album Trigger Happy Heartbreak, so stay tuned for more new music from Shan Vincent de Paul.
