Here is the latest entry in our partnership with COLORS BERLIN, an online music channel that aims to break down the barriers of the musical landscape. ALL COLORS NO GENRES is their main mission – from hip-hop to indie, electronica, R&B and pop, COLORS BERLIN allows artists to present themselves and their work in a contemporary way. We’ve teamed up with them on a series of video shorts in which artists are invited to perform one of their own tracks in the COLORS studio.

Music is in Smino’s blood. His father plays keys, his mother sings, and his grandfather played bass guitar for Blues Hall of Fame musician Muddy Waters. The Saint Louis native got his start on a drum set given to him by his father at age 7, and soon began rapping. His cousin is singer-songwriter Drea Smith, who took Smino under her wing when he moved to Chicago for college.

Smino has come a long way since his early days as C. Smi - the self-described soulful rapper is now set to support SZA on her upcoming 'Ctrl' Tour. Experience his futuristic funk for yourself with the artist’s performance of his infection single “Maraca” above.

Listen to Smino’s debut studio album blkswn below.

Be sure to check out the previous installment of COLORS Berlin with Topaz Jones right here.
