This year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is about more than just celebrating the models’ bodies. Named “In Her Own Words” the project was shot by an all-female team who handed over complete control to the women that were featured.

By using a stripped down studio and giving the models complete artistic and creative control, SI created a platform with which Aly Raisman, Ashley Graham and co. could share their passions, strength, and voice.

As part of this year’s theme, each woman carried a different message on their bodies. Raisman, for example, posed nude with messages for abuse survivors written on her body.

Slogans such as “every voice matters” and “trust yourself” were among the many messages shared by the women.

Check out the official cover below and then scroll on to see who is featured in this year’s issue.
