Up-and-coming Tottenham MC Avelino has linked up with Grime kingpins Stormzy and Skepta for new track "Energy". As you can imagine from such a high-power trio, it is fairly insane. Listen to it below via Spotify.
Speaking about the track on BBC 1Xtra, Avelino said “It’s the music first. It wasn’t a thing where I fought with it in my head – we [just] made a song that’s sick… It’s embracing everything that’s great about UK culture.” It’s also the first time Stormzy and Skepta have linked up on a track together, with the two Grime icons co-signing the future star.
The high-octane song comes off the back of Stormzy blasting his way back into the scene with the announcement of his new album, Gang Signs and Prayer and lead single "Big For Your Boots". Meanwhile, Skepta enjoyed a massive 2016 thanks to his Mercury Award winning album Konnichiwa and you can watch his Greatness Only documentary about his year of unprecedented success here.
But it seems all eyes are now on Avelino, who also hails from the same North London borough as Skepta. He has been dropping a host of strong singles consistently since the end of last year, and it remains to be seen whether they will feature on a longer project.
