Editor’s Notes: Onitsuka Tiger recently unveiled an upcoming collaboration with cult video game series Street Fighter V. Comprising two colorways of the iconic Mexico 66 SD silhouette, the collaboration features nods to the character Chun Li as well as dragon-themed graphics on the upper.
According to the Japanese shoe company, only 5,000 pairs of the sneakers will be released at Onitsuka Tiger stores as a worldwide exclusive. In addition to dropping the sneakers, Onitsuka Tiger has included a special product code car with each pair sold that gives gamers the chance to unlock the kicks and a Chun Li Onitsuka Tiger costume within the game. The special Chun-Li costume was designed by renowned Japanese manga artist Masakazu Katsura.
Street Fighter V, a Capcom game, debuted in 1987 and has sold over 42 million copies worldwide since. It is widely attributed with revolutionizing the fighting game genre when the console version, Street Fighter II, came out in 1992. Check out the sneakers above.
