Syd has dropped a new track called “Treading Water” on her SoundCloud. Originally penciled in to appear on her album FIN, the track had to be cut due to licensing reasons. As The FADER points out, the Steve Lacy and Ronald “Flip” Colson-produced jazz-fueled instrumental is the same one used on Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s "Selfish" - which probably explains why it had to be axed. Take a listen to the track below.

Syd even took to Twitter to announce that “Treading Water” was her favorite song from the record before it was pulled.

The singer at the heart of R&B group The Internet dropped her excellent debut solo album FIN back in February, and it is filled with a similar blend of low-slung, smooth R&B jams throughout. Stream the release below.

In other music news, Danny Brown has announced he will soon be linking up with Jonah Hill on an unspecified project. Find out more here.
