The Skateroom is a social entrepreneurship whose main purpose is to help empower youth using art and skateboarding. For spring, the Belgian label has joined forces with renowned French street artist JR for a special set of skateboard decks to support Brazilian favelas, which is filled with poverty and crime.

The featured decks incorporate JR’s signature 2016 work on the Louvre Museum in France titled, Hidden in the City: the Louvre Pyramid (with JR), which was the artist's attempt to make the museum's glass pyramid disappear by wrapping a side of the iconic structure in an image of the surrounding building and allowing it to blend away into the background. The exclusive decks will also coincide with the 30th anniversary of the glass pyramid.

In addition, to further raise awareness and provide aid to Brazilian favelas, The Skateroom will dedicate 30% of the proceeds to support two social projects: Casa Amarela and Coletivo Skate Maré. "Most notably, the construction of a permanent skatepark within the favelas will provide the youth with a safe space to express itself. Through skateboarding, these kids will learn to develop their skills and confidence, and be empowered to pursue better opportunities," said The Skateroom.

Pricing for the special collaborative skateboard decks have yet to be announced, however, availability on The Skateroom's website begins on March 29.
