This week is officially the week of Starboy, the highly, highly-anticipated new album from The Weeknd. And the hype train has been real; the singer dropped a spooky countdown video and a short film titled Mania over the past several days which featured snippets of new music. Now he has gone in-depth on the making of the album in a comprehensive interview with Zane Lowe.

As anyone who has seen the tracklist to the upcoming album knows that it’s packed with guest stars. So naturally Lowe is curious about what it was like for The Weeknd to work with visitors such as Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey and Kendrick Lamar. The Weeknd was particularly inspired by the latter, who he describes as “a genius.” They also discussed topics as diverse as his performance technique, his relationship with sobriety, and what the hell happened to all the hair he cut off.
