Like many musicians before him, The Weeknd is crossing over into film as he will be featured in the Safdie brothers’ new crime thriller, Uncut Gems. The Canadian singer-songwriter is set to play himself in the movie which stars Adam Sandler.

While details continues to trickle in surrounding Joshua and Benjamin Safdie’s new picture, we know that Sandler will portray a charismatic New York City jeweler named Howard Ratner. Always in search of the next big score, Ratner finds himself in a world of trouble following a series of high-stakes bets.

Uncut Gems, the Safdie brothers’ first movie since 2017’s Good Time with Robert Pattinson, will serve as The Weeknd’s feature film debut. The cast also includes LaKeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Judd Hirsch, Eric Bogosian, Pom Klementieff, and Kevin Garnett.

On this week’s episode of The Dropcast, we are joined by photographer Cam Hicks and Angelo Urrutia, your favorite influencer’s favorite influencer’s favorite behind-the-scenes creative director. Enjoy.
