Inspired by that very specific refraction of light that happens over the Stockholm city skyline at the height of summer, Swedish watchmakers TRIWA has unveiled its "Golden Hour" collection for Spring/Summer 2016.
The collection encompasses two versions of the label’s Falken design: the Charles and the Ray Falken in gold and silver respectively.
With its base in a city that lies so far north, the inspiration for TRIWA's new collection began 12 months before the watches themselves would be worn. At the height of summer, when days are long and nights are at their shortest, the sun doesn’t set over Stockholm until around 10 p.m. The hour just before that is known as the "golden hour," where the pastel shades of the buildings and the city’s copper rooftops change through the gloaming period.
The timepieces themselves perfectly encapsulate the Scandinavian aesthetic, with cues taken from mid-century modern design in an homage to the playful, simple and functional period.
