The new faces of R&B are constantly changing, but luckily there’s enough room in our hearts for all of them to co-exist. TRQS is the latest artist to bubble up from beneath the sound waves. Today, the 22-year-old soul singer makes her formal debut with the single “YNY” which we have the honor of premiering right here. In an email to Highsnobiety, she elaborated on the meaning behind the introspective love song.

“‘YNY’ is about the love life of a friend and the struggle to feel truly comfortable with someone,” she said. “This relationship could have been such a positive thing but for whatever reason, it didn’t last but my friend was left wondering where it could have lead.”

Expect to hear more promising material from TRQS soon via French label Yunizon Records. For now, get acquainted with her sound by streaming the song below.

For more of our premieres, check out Toronto trio Bones & Bridges’s latest single “Too Good” right here.
