Uber has this week announced a new service, Uber Health, that will provide patients rides to and from healthcare facilities. Healthcare providers can assign their patients vehicles, or you can hail a car via text message, eliminating the need for a smartphone.

In partnering with a number of healthcare organizations, Uber Health also allows you to schedule rides up to 30 days in advance. Uber has subsequently joined with leading Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act risk-management company, Clearwater Compliance, to ensure patients' private medical information is secure.

As it stands, Uber Health has yet to reveal if it will be able to transport individuals with disabilities.
