Wavy Women highlights various industry professionals currently leading the game with their brazen creativity and forward-thinking style.

Meet Valeria Semushina, our latest Wavy Woman. Born in Russia, Valeria moved to Milan over seven years ago to launch a career as a stylist. Now, she’s one of the most established young names in the game, styling for fashion stalwarts like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Hunger and Interview.

We asked Valeria a few questions to find out more about her personal style, what first piqued her interest in fashion, her greatest career achievements and more.

Read what she had to say below, then peep our last installment with luxury shoes designer Amina Muaddi.

What was the thing that first got you interested in fashion?

I’ve been interested in fashion since childhood. I grew up with an idea that I will work in the fashion industry and I’ve never had a doubt that it would happen. I started styling since 8-years-old, but my first “models” were my parents, siblings and friends.

What was your first big gig?

I think it was working with my favorite brand, Alyx.

Tell us about your day to day.

Always doing a lot of research on something new from the morning to night. Also working hard all day long and then trying to find the energy to spend time with my friends.

If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?

Good question. I would probably stay in Russia and study International Relations.

Describe your current style.

I’m inspired by something new everyday. I would say that the most important thing for me is to be unique. I really love to transform my clothes.

Who or what are you currently inspired by?

I find inspiration in something new everyday, whether it’s different people, cultures, places, streets, history or art.

What is the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?

I think one of them is being an inspiration for your admirers.

What is your most treasured item of clothing and why?

All of my Rodarte pieces because they’re art for me.

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

Travel a lot for my job and work with my favorite brands.

Dream collaboration? (with whom and what would you create?)

Any collaboration with Y/Project.
