Much like the womenswear world's Cruise collections, Pitti Uomo's guest designer shows are more about spectacle than industry power moves. Alongside Gosha Rubchinskiy (who showed yesterday) and Raf Simons, visvim was invited by the Pitti Uomo trade show to exhibit as a guest designer.

A who's who of the menswear industry was whisked off to a gorgeous Florentine villa to witness Hiroki Nakamura's label unveiling its SS17 collection. While most fashion shows are for buyers and editors to get a firsthand look at a collection, the event was more about creating spectacular, Instagram-friendly moments to flood your social media feeds. There were vintage motorbikes (with aging bikers) scattered around the villa grounds, while jumpsuited workers were on hand to serve up refreshments from visvim's Little Cloud Coffee, and visvim-brand noragis were given out to guests.

In terms of clothing, visvim's SS17 collection was yet another journey back to times gone by — no surprises there. Icons of Americana — greasers, dolled-up gals and the like — strutted down the runway, decked out in a bevy of lovingly reproduced vintage garments, which were probably crafted from cotton grown in volcanic ash, or something.

The real stars of the show, though, was the squad of aging Italian rockers who danced and clapped their way through the visvim procession. The performance put a smile on everyone's faces, but more importantly, provided a whole ton of Instagram-friendly moments. Which, at the end of the day, is what this sort of thing is all about.

Be sure to keep up to date with the rest of the SS17 fashion month's goings-on.
