Will Smith has had many career-defining moments as an actor, winning two Academy Awards and starring in some top-grossing movies.
However, the one role that fans always associate with him is his time as The Fresh Prince in the cult-classic The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Talking to Graham Norton about the possibility of a reboot, the actor admitted that he could not stand watching himself in that role anymore.
“It was my very first role, and I was very, very focused on being successful, so I learned the whole script and everyone else’s lines. If you watch the first four or five episodes, you can see I’m mouthing other people’s lines. It’s terrible and I can’t bear to watch it,” said Smith.
While that doesn’t necessarily sound like a bad thing, and more like Will Smith being hypercritical of himself, there’s a reason The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has withstood the test of time and a lot of that has to do with Smith’s acting.
When probed on whether he would be down for a reboot the actor was all for it, although this time, Smith said, he would probably have to play the role of Uncle Phil. “Man, I’d have to be Uncle Phil in that one now ― I’m nearly 50.”
Judging by the picture below, it might not be so hard to see Smith as Uncle Phil in the future.
