Meet Winnie Harlow, the global Canadian supermodel and star of our latest Meet the Muse segment. After first gaining prominence as a contestant on Cycle 21 of America’s Next Top Model, Harlow quickly rose to become one of the most recognizable faces in the business, modeling for a number of high-profile media outlets and brands such as Diesel, Swarovski, Desigual, Sprite, Vogue Italia, Dazed and i-D.

Winnie took some time out of her hectic schedule to pose in front of notable photographer Emanuele D’Angelo‘s lens, sporting brands like Supreme, Stussy, Puma, Buscemi and more.

Check out our Q&A with Winnie below then be sure to peep fellow Muse, PIXIEE.

What was your first big modeling gig?

It was for a ShowStudio shooting with Nick Knight. I definitely consider him my Fashion Godfather.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“God wouldn’t give you more than you can handle.” There’s a lot of ups and downs that comes with being in this industry, so I try and hold tight to advice as often as I can.

How has your style changed over the years?

Growing up, I used to hate dresses and skirts and anything too feminine; I was definitely more of a tomboy. I always wanted to wear jeans, even to church! Now I love getting dressed up…but I still prefer more laid-back style for my day-to-day look.

Who or what are you currently inspired by?

My new friend Luka Sabbat. We just clicked when we met in Paris during Couture Fashion Week and now we talk all the time. He’s super cool.

What’s your motto?

“You only live once that’s the motto ni**a yolo.”

If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?

Probably at MTV as a host. I was about to start my journalism degree before I started modeling and I grew up on MTV so would’ve loved to combine the two.

Dream collaboration?

My dream collaboration would be with Roberto Cavalli. The SS16 collection by Peter Dundas when he returned as Creative Director has to be my all time favorite and we would create another season of the Lion Camouflage prints he did. I’m a Leo and I adore that whole line.

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

In five years’ time, I would hope to be walking on the Victoria’s Secret runway, have a bomb-ass make-up contract, and a few campaigns with Cavalli or Givenchy. Personally, I want to stay happy and healthy and in love. I never want to be at a point where I take all my experiences for granted.
