WOOYOUNGMI is one of Korea’s most recognized independent menswear labels, showing at Paris Fashion Week and stocked internationally. Launched in 2002 by Wooyoung Mi, the label’s FW18 collection is the first in which Katie Chung (Madame Woo’s daughter), has taken sole creative direction of the brand.

For her debut, Chung leant into blazers with oversized sleeves (rolled up below), snug polo necks, thin check prints, exaggerated collars and embellished denim jeans. Speaking to Vogue during Paris Fashion Week, Chung described her influences, and summed up the mood of contemporary menswear in general, “there are sports details and vintage elements and classic Wooyoungmi elegance and influences from streetwear too . . . it doesn’t make sense, but I think that is what is really happening now.”

Shot on location in Seoul and styled by Highsnobiety‘s Style Director Jan-Michael Quammie, this editorial highlights the elegance, wearability, and incorporation of fine tailoring into a modern silhouette from WOOYOUNGMI’s FW18 collection.
