Designer: Yohji Yamamoto

Location: Paris Fashion Week

Season: SS20

Key Pieces: In many ways the long black garments are more of the same from Yohji Yamamoto, as we’re particularly drawn to the footwear for SS20, namely the blue sneakers in slide 15.

Editor’s Notes: Next up from Paris Fashion Week is a look at Yohji Yamamoto‘s SS20 collection. To no surprise, the new season brings another round of predominantly black garments by the respected Japanese designer.

Yohji Yamamoto’s black SS20 styles are livened up, however, thanks to photographic prints and painted illustrations, most of which are applied with a faded effect. We then see cargo pockets taking over shirts and long straps implemented on coats.

In offering a touch of variety, the collection includes a selection of pieces in blue and yellow shades. As footwear is virtually always a focal point from Yohji Yamamoto, the SS20 arsenal largely consists of military-inspired trainers and runners alongside all-black boots and sandals.

If long black garments are your thing, Yohji Yamamoto SS20 should not disappoint. See the gallery above for a glimpse at the designer’s latest collection, then hit the comments with your thoughts on the line.

Not NYC, not LA.
