After bringing Young Thug on tour with him in 2018, J. Cole will be executive producing the snake-loving rapper’s next project. As Complex reports, sources close to Young Thug say that J. Cole will executive produce Young Thug’s new album, and the two have already started recording sessions in New York.

Cole has previously talked up Young Thug’s talent. “If you want to talk about Young Thug as an artist, he’s an innovator,” he told Angie Martinez last year. “If you know skills, you call him a mumble rapper all you want, but if you know skills and you know the art of rapping, that dude is a genius.”

Young Thug, meanwhile, made his ambitions known in a recent profile in Interview. “I dream of winning 20 Grammys. I dream of being acknowledged as the best rapper alive and the richest rapper alive.”

Young Thug’s most recent solo album was 2017’s Beautiful Thugger Girls. He dropped his On the Rvn EP last year, with features from Elton John, Offset, and more.
