NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert may seem like a small affair, but the reputable stage has been graced by everyone from Chance the Rapper and Anderson .Paak to Adele and Blue Man Group. Last month, Future was scheduled for an appearance to coincide with the release of his latest album, The Wizrd. However, the Atlanta rapper completely bailed on his show, leaving Zaytoven on his own to carry the performance solo.
The renowned producer saved face by improvising a three-song set of Beast Mode instrumentals alongside his bandmates and a flautist. The set consisted of Beast Mode standouts “Lay Up” and “Peacoat” in addition to “Mo Reala” off his debut solo album, Trap Holizay. Future’s hit single, “Mask Off” was originally on the set list, but was unfortunately neglected. Watch the entire session in the video below.
