Where form meets function

While most homes are situated in bustling cities or suburban neighborhoods, the Wirra Willa Pavilion by Matthew Woodward Architecture is located in an isolated area in Somersby, Australia. Enclosed in the wilderness, this home interfaces with nature well: the courtyard with a view of the surrounding body of water compliments an in-ground hot tub, and sliding glass panels on exterior walls of the home that allow for summer breezes to enter. The eco-friendly residence is also built for the winter months: thermal-engineered materials absorb the sun’s radiation to create pleasant temperatures inside; glass panels close to lock in the heat while still providing a panoramic view of the landscape.
