Mr Porter

We've already given you the lowdown on some of the most exciting ways cutting-edge technology is poised to change the face of fashion, and it seems some of those ideas are coming into practice faster than you might think. In an attempt to push street fashion forward, NYC-based wearable tech lab The Crated has joined forces with custom apparel retailer Print All Over Me to produce a small range of clothing featuring printed designs that respond directly to sunlight.

Using so-called "photochromic ink," the 11-piece capsule collection incorporates designs that conceal or reveal certain elements depending on their exposure to UV light. While the technology itself is not entirely new, it has struggled to really make an impact on mainstream fashion in the past. Whether the items seen in this rave-inspired, admittedly rather juvenile, collection have the power to inspire other brands to follow their lead, however, remains to be seen. We can't help but feel it's a bit of a wasted opportunity to confine something like this to such a niche stylistic audience.

Still, if you want to help them get the project off the ground, head over to Kickstarter and help them make it a reality.
