The Milanese label that draws direct sartorial inspiration from the Swiss Army, Sempach, has created one of the most restrained yet thoroughly engaging stands at Pitti Uomo 89.

In a fascinating showcase, the label unveils its entire collection, all presented in a pearlescent blue, while putting forward its story since 2015 – a key turning point when the brand, although started in 2005, went back to its roots. The Pitti Uomo presentation defines three key chapters that began with the unveiling of its Fall/Winter 2014 collection, each tied to a specific product release and innovation.

With FW15, the label was re-inspired to visit the trademark Swiss Army quilted sleeping bags that originally sparked the imagination of Sempach's founder, Christian Wernle, some 10 years earlier. What followed were the padded nylon jackets with their distinctive diamond quilting. The second chapter was defined by the SS16 collection, which reworked materials and fabrications from Swiss Army field tents to create Sempach's distinctive second line of jackets, made from a sturdy, uncoated cotton weave. Finally, Sempach's third chapter outlines how the Swiss 17er Kompanie was used as the basis for the development of Sempach’s own rip-stop fabric. The parachute silk spin-off is designed to be worn separately or as removable inner linings for Sempach's wider collection.

“We are very happy and proud of Sempach’s course, and the international approval we’re receiving rewards our team for the great work they’re doing,” states Mauro Di Liddo, founder of Sempach and CEO of Blackboard Group.

The Pitti Uomo showcase comes ahead of the brand's new FW16 collection, soon available in select stores in military green, black and gray.
