Some people do things by the book. They seek out the traditional path and follow it without deviation, hoping that playing by the rules will lead them to success.

In fact, there is very little “traditional” about Last Night In Paris at all. Hailing from a string of districts across South London, this multi-disciplinary artist collective has risen through the ranks of the underground on their own terms, earning respect and admiration for their broad and atypical approach to music production and promotion.

With no fixed roles among its members, each of whom will just as happily pic up a microphone as they would a camera or a laptop, Last Night In Paris are the very essence of modern, hybrid creativity. Their music takes cues from the slick, woozy US cloud rap scene, yet filters it through a distinctly British ear, resulting in a kind of trans-Atlantic sound that has earned them many thousands of devoted followers across the globe — all without so much as a record deal to their name.

In fact, Last Night In Paris have already starred in and self-produced a series of horror-themed music videos so visually striking they could give the major labels a run for their money. With that in mind, we headed out onto the streets of suburban London to see what would happen when these talented individuals met a shoe that matched their own renegade persona: the Converse One Star.
