The king of monsters is back. Ever since Japanese production company Toho hinted at a reboot of the Godzilla franchise, the anticipation to see the first glimpse of the giant beast has been going through the roof. The time has arrived, we have the very first trailer for Godzilla Resurgence.

Showcasing what co-director Higuchi said is the "most terrifying" Godzilla yet, the epic 1:32-minute-long teaser hints a slightly different approach for the franchise as we see much more heavily armed government forces readying to fight back. The film is said to be based more directly upon the 1954 original, released when Japan was still recovering from World War II and inspired by the devastation of the war’s final days.

Check out the trailer above, and be sure to watch out for a U.S. release following the Japanese premiere on July 29.

In other movie news, Ben Affleck has been confirmed to direct & star in a solo Batman movie.
