Trends are often born within underground scenes; they start as part of small subcultures that no one takes notice of until all of a sudden they’re a part of the mainstream culture. Han Kjøbenhavn’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection took inspiration from one such subculture, the suburban youth in Copenhagen.
The collection was created to be functional; Han Kjøbenhavn focused on daily purpose, designing pieces specifically to handle the conditions of the Danish summer. In order to do this they've focused on linear and fitted silhouettes, employing a broad range of materials.
Notably a selection of jackets have been constructed in velvet while Merino wool, cashmere cow leather and Cordura also feature heavily.
Despite being inspired by Copenhagen's youth, Han Kjøbenhavn has once again used its signature poster boy, who is significantly older than your average model. Blurring the line between generations he appears to scream, "I was young once too!"
