Even though things are changing with longer videos, new algorithms and more, Instagram continues to surge as today’s premiere social media network, having surpassed 400 million users late last year. Of course, your feed is only as good as who you follow, so a strong set of accounts is paramount in getting the most out of Instagram. Whether you’re looking for inspiration or just a bit of eye candy, IG is packed with incredible imagery from all over the world.

Switching up our on-going 5 Instagram Accounts to Follow feature once again, this week team Highsnobiety looked to the land of the rising sun and chose five of their favorite Tokyo-based photographers on Instagram. Each of these accounts share amazing photos of the Japanese metropolis on a regular basis, so you’re sure to find someone new to keep your feed interesting.

Read on for our Tokyo picks.

Favorite accounts to follow from Toyko: @robertkirsch - He is a very sensitive photographer. His portraits reveal more than what is seen on the surface. They allow us to see another side of the subject. @chiaoking - Her world view is very different from mine though, she is a really skillful photographer and her work has always inspired me.

Favorite place to shoot in Tokyo: Shibuya is my favorite place to shoot because it is full of creative energy. It is always evolving. It is the center of culture for me and it's creative energy influences the world. It's also and full of iconic spaces and really photogenic.

Favorite place to shop in Tokyo: Stadium Harajuku

Footwear of choice: Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG

Favorite account to follow from Toyko: Favorite account in Tokyo is @theshuttercub because his edits are all on high level and he has good vision when it comes to angles.

Favorite place to shoot in Tokyo: My favorite spot is still the top of Rainbow Bridge, but as it's completely impossible to climb now, my second favorite area is Ginza.

Favorite place to shop in Tokyo: Nike store in Harajuku.

Footwear of choice: I always wear Nike SB.

Favorite account to follow from Toyko: Kei Kinoshita's Instagram: @spatialflow - inspiring shots from around the city with a beautiful color palette. It's always interesting to see how people capture the same locations with a different focus. Follow them!

Favorite place to shoot in Tokyo: Shinjuku - Tokyo's red light district, filled with countless bars and love hotels. I love how seedy it becomes after midnight. My most popular pictures were shot there, with many nights spent in dark alleys in the rain to capture the perfect shot.

Favorite place to shop in Tokyo: Shibuya, without a doubt. Ginza is a close second but it lacks the character and buzz that Shibuya has.

Footwear of choice: Y-3 QASA high in grey, since they make me feel like a ninja.
