Where the runway meets the street

With UAS on the forefront of both fashion and function, it only makes sense that they’d want to give the public a chance to experience its latest releases up close and personal. With the brand’s latest venture—a 10-day-long pop-up in New York City’s fashion-conscious SoHo neighborhood—bringing the UAS product direct to the city that helped inspire the collection, both UAS newcomers and Under Armour fans are able to step into a truly unique space. Like the garments themselves, the pop-up artfully combines the hustle of New York, with pieces that embody Executive Creative Director Tim Coppens’ redefining vision of “Modern American Sportswear.”

For those that may not remember, UAS recently debuted UAS COLLECTION 01 at New York Fashion Week back in September, combining industrial elements (metal cages encasing garments and exposed steel beams) with impactful lighting to truly accentuate both the function and the fashion behind UAS. The 27 Mercer Street pop-up continues the aesthetic, featuring dramatic fluorescent lighting that runs along the entire warehouse-style space, with TC Select garments strung up and fully displayed in metal cages that mirror the original presentation.

While there’s a variety of key garments on offer at the pop-up, the focus is certainly on the recently dropped TC SELECT—UAS COLLECTION 01 capsule collection, a selection of pieces directly inspired and chosen by Tim Coppens himself. Pieces like the Transparent Parka and the Fusion Bomber show the versatility embedded into UAS, but especially the TC Select pieces. The Transparent Parka is completely water resistant, including water-resistant pockets. Constructed out of an opaque synthetic material and an adjustable waist, the jacket can flex with you—no matter what you’re up to. The Fusion Bomber is just as multifunctional, boasting a removable hood and sleeves, not to mention water-resistant pockets and a body built out of 800 fill power goose down.

The boys aren’t the only ones benefiting from UAS design, and much like the Transparent Parka, the women’s Cape Parka boasts a water-resistant outer and water-resistant zip pockets. However, the Cape Parka also turns up the heat with a merino wool interior lining and concealed inner hand pockets. The ladies also have the Down Quilted Bomber. The bomber may look like a traditional one when looking purely at the silhouette, but it modernizes the classic by adding 800 fill power goose down sleeves and a water-resistant zipper. Like UAS itself, it’s one of the key garments that take a style staple and make it more practical, functional and contemporary.

The pop-up may be spotlighting the TC Select capsule collection, but fans of Collection 01 (which includes garments shown back during NYFW) will be satisfied at 27 Mercer as well. Both select clothing and footwear from Collection 01 are available for purchase at the SoHo shop.

But, the best part has to be that all of these items are going to be available to see, feel and experience within a well-curated space. While UAS and the TC Select capsule are built to be taken into the streets of your nearest contemporary city, the pop-up’s downtown NYC location gives the perfect retail context for the rising new sportswear line. With the pop-up officially wrapping up on December 12, you’ll want to stop by 27 Mercer Street in SoHo sooner rather than later to score the UAS pieces you’ve been scoping out.
