The good news just keeps coming for Studio Ghibli fans. With the legendary Japanese animator's The Red Turtle slated for release next month, affiliated production house Studio Ponoc has now unveiled the trailer for its first ever movie, Mary and the Witch’s Flower.
The anime was created by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, a name Ghibli fans will recognize as the animator behind titles such as Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. Yoshiaki Nishimura takes on production duties, meaning he'll hook up with Yonebashi for the first time since 2014's When Marnie Was There.
In typical "Ghibilian" fashion, the story follows a girl who ends up on an otherworldly adventure having been exiled to her great aunt's house. Fans will be drawn to the art style, character design and color palette, which strikingly mirrors that of Isao Takahata and Hiyao Miyazaki.
