If you find yourself instantly mesmerized by Charles, know that you are not alone. He has an effervescent video presence, and distinctive bass vocals that are unbelievably rich. The North Londoner might be new to the music scene at large, but we’re getting the vibes that he was born for this. In the visuals for his latest track “Red Green Gold,” he is surrounded at all times by a triad of fierce femmes sporting ensembles in the hues of the track title; a force to be reckoned with in their expertly choreographed movements. It's making its premiere here on Highsnobiety, and you can watch it below.
With a dash of John Waters kitsch, singer/songwriter Charles is proving he should most certainly be on your radar, casually serving up a blissfully laid-back earworm. “Red Green Gold” outlines the tension Charles felt while in a long distance relationship. Although he dealt with the requisite anxiety, he explains that “being so far apart was making me fully appreciate how beautiful we had it. Remembering stuff like our favourite childhood colours... His Red, mine Green and the Gold representing what flows throughout us.” The result is a debut single and accompanying video that, as Charles brilliantly puts it, exudes an "'I don't give a fuck attitude' yet with an underpinning of my vulnerability.” Watch and listen above to just over three minutes of lushness, and you’ll soon see why Charles is one to watch.
