With one vital piece of the James Bond equation already settled thanks to Daniel Craig agreeing to once again reprise his role as 007, the next major piece to fall is surely who will helm the action spectacle.
Back in early May there were rumors that Christopher Nolan might take over the franchise. However, three frontrunners have now emerged: Yann Demange, Denis Villeneuve and David Mackenzie.
Yann Demange is currently directing White Boy Rick starring Matthew McConaughey which tells the story of a teenage cocaine trafficker turned FBI informant.
Denis Villeneuve is coming off the well-received science fiction film, Arrival, which was heaped in praise thanks to his cerebral approach.
Finally, David Mackenzie directed the criminally underrated bank robbery film, Hell or High Water, which made him a name to watch.
Stay tuned as more details surface.
