There’s no doubt that you have seen your fair share of news pertaining to the Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip, but for good reason: it’s a very interesting piece of footwear, whether you like them or not. This time around, we present to you a few more colors that were not shown in our previous post in regards to these shoes. We recall in December or 2010 when Nike Sportswear’s Jarrett Reynolds wore a saddle shoe that featured a lunar outsole, so it was no surprise seeing the popular sole unit make its way onto a dressier style of shoe. In case you missed the release info, these drop on February 10 at Cole Haan SoHo, 128 Prince Street, New York for $248.

Today we take a closer look at the much talked about Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip. The Nike Lunar outer sole has become very popular over the last year and we all know what has happened with the classic Wingtip Brogue ever since the heritage trend really hit us. Putting the two together seems like the right next thing to do.

Our opinions are split on t he shoe. Never having been a big fan of hybrids, we do understand the thinking and even the ideas behind the new silhouette – offering a classic, yet comfortable, shoe with a nice twist. Only time will tell how successful the shoe will end up being. Cole Haan being owned by Nike, it is interesting seeing their sharing of technology across the board. We have seen it with AIR before and now Lunar is next.

In addition to the Patta x Asics Gel Sagas, the latest issue of Sneaker Freaker also features the Cole Haan Lunargrand Wing Tips. Mating Nike’s modern Lunarlon sole with a classic suede wing tip upper, Cole Haan presents one of the most interesting hybrid shoes we’ve seen in some time.

Cole Haan recently released a series of wing tips and penny loafers constructed with reflective uppers.

The Jayhawker Wingtip is distinguished by an oversized storm welt, heavy stitching and thick leather outsole. A Goodyear leather welt construction enhances the shoe’s overall resilience and durability. The upper features a toe medallion brogue detail inspired by the Trafton, Cole Haan’siconic wingtip named after the brand’s co-founder, Trafton Cole. The Monroe Penny Loafer is characterized by a genuine hand-sewn moccasin construction. Fully leather-lined, the shoe is designed with rubber nubs on the outsole to elevate traction and comfort.

Theophilus London collaborates with Cole Haan on a blue suede Buck with an electric blue sole. Details including a perforated leather lining, gold embellished eyelets and cobble nails complete the shoe, while a 10″ vinyl of Theophilus London’s cover of Nat King Cole’s “Calypso Blues” comes as part of the package. Out September 13th at the Cole Haan SoHo.

Cole Haan presents “The Inspired Life” a series of portraits of interesting individuals, showcasing their new Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. For the series they have teamed up with The Selby. Featured in the series are James Bond from Undefeated, Maria Sharapova, Johnny Knapp of Corner Store Cooperative, Harley Viera-Newton, Magda Wosinska and more.

As some of you might know already, Michael Williams from A Continuous Lean has been working on ACL & Co., a new brand, for a while. We do not want to spoil the fun and will wait on reporting about it until launch. But in the meantime you can check out the ACL & Co. collaborative Chukkas with Cole Haan. The limited edition Chukka is hand-crafted of heavyweight, vegetable tanned English reverse Kudu on the upper, sock and sole. Even though the shoe is part of the Spring 2010 Collection, it has seen an early release online here.

French book company Assouline has impressed us with various projects in recent years, namely the Goyard collaborations and of course their impressive line-up of premium books, taking publishing to a new level, unseen from other publishers out there. It’s also the product surrounding the books that makes the brand stand out.

Another one of those unexpected, yet interesting collaborations has recently been released. Assouline designed a leather bag for Cole Haan. The genuine leather bag is perfect to carry your favorite books, magazines and your laptop. The bag comes with an embossed Didot alphabet. The lining comes in canvas and also features some more practical pockets.
