Secret Forts had an early look at J.Crew’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection that includes collaborative releases with the Hill-side, Alden, Baracuta, Mister Freedom, Saint James and Red Wing. “All in all, Frank and his staff have continued along their well established path of sturdy takes on work wear, refined suiting with clean silhouettes and the well chosen and curated collaborations. Some stand outs in the line for me include the wax canvas/leather Red Wing Wabasha Chukka, the Ludlow suit in a navy sharkskin, both the nail head tab collar workshirt as well as a new red chambray version, and the firemen’s jacket.”

Red Wing Shoes worked closely with J. Crew’s design team to re-craft a popular vintage boot from their archives. “Made with Copper Rough & Tough full-grain Red Wing leather, custom-tanned in their own tannery using premium U.S. cattle hides and triple-stitched with signature black-and-white waxed threads. Sturdy direct-attach Goodyear welt construction. Leather trim details. Both nylon and rawhide laces are included. Brass eyelets and hooks with a gunmetal finish. Unlined. Rubber urethane sole. USA.” The higher cut and black rubber sole make this a nice alternative to the omnipresent 875.
