After just announcing their partnership with Japanese brand Visvim for a line called Moncler V, the classic outerwear label now brings news of a collection by Grammy-winning musician Pharrell Williams. The collection features an assortment of all-black jackets, and includes a “pacifist” version of the bulletproof jacket (pictured) with Velcro-ed side slits, reversible matte/shiny down vests and elongated puffers.

Each jacket is built with textiles from Bionic Yarn, a Pharrell controlled company that produces fabric from recycled plastic bottles. Furthermore, printed linings feature images of lush forests, shot at dusk by Japanese artist Keita Sugiura. Prices and distribution details are yet to be finalized.

Today the announcement came in, that Moncler has joined forces with Japanese brand Visvim. The collaborative collection of men’s apparel and accessories is called Moncler V.

“Remo Ruffini, Moncler’s chairman and creative director, said the collection will bow for fall 2010. The line, which will be priced similarly to Moncler’s regular collection, will consist of about 20 pieces, including apparel items, accessories and footwear.

Visvim designer Hiroki Nakamura said he aims to craft well-structured basics that draw on Moncler’s alpine roots. Ruffini said the collection resembles many looks from Moncler’s archives going back to the Fifties and Sixties. The new men’s line will have a select distribution network consisting of about 150 stores worldwide, including no more than five or six in the U.S. and 25 in Japan.

Separately, Ruffini disclosed he has been in contact with his friend Pharrell Williams and they are thinking about working together on some customized items for the musician. But he stressed it’s too soon to say if the collaboration could be expanded to the retail market.”

Moncler continues to impress. Their new Gamme Bleu range with Thom Browne is among the best that has come from them and in our opinion some of the best outerwear this season. The combination of the designers sharp styles and the quality of the brand are a perfect match. Our favorite pieces include the puffy bomber jacket and the puffy camouflage blazer. Seeing the rise of Moncler in recent years has been an impressive journey. The brand went from quality down coats with history to a fashion brand of size. Initiatives such as Junya Watanabe and Thom Browne have of course helped. For Fall/Winter 2009 the brand presents their largest mens footwear offering to date and smartly includes signature details of the brand into shoes and boots. The outcome is a strong footwear collection, that is perfect for the rougher days to come this winter.

After much anticipation first pieces from the Thom Browne designed Moncler Gamme Bleu Fall/Winter 2009 Collection have been released. The brand has been on the up for a couple of seasons now and impresses with this new range once again. Thom Browne added some much needed casual style to the brand, making it also off the ski piste a hit. Classic materials and colors mixed with modern cuts make up the line. First releases includes gloves, beanies, scarfs, as well as puffy vests and jackets, that the brand is so well known for. These past days Thom Browne has presented the first ever Moncler Gamme Bleu Spring/Summer collection for 2010. The New York designer already turned heads during his Pitti presentation last season and once again he impresses with a great presentation. For the collection he had again a series of models march up and in this case swim to present the summer range of the high end collection of Moncler.

Moncler is definitely one of those brands that we have completely disregarded in the summer months until now. Today we came across this new fleece M-65 Jacket from their Spring/Summer 2009 Collection and we love it. Nice color, good details and just an overall great piece. The sleeve stripe detail looks really nice and is just enough on this piece. The price is set at 245 Euros, thus also not too bad. It is now available at colette.

We give you a first look at the Moncler Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. Moncler is certainly more of a winter brand, known for their high quality down jackets. But their summer jackets are also looking good. They use a lot their infamous shiny look also in the Spring/Summer 2009 collection, nicely mix subtle with bright colors, finding just the right mix. Classic silhouettes get worthy updates through interesting material and color choices.

Teaming with fashion label Moncler, British artist Stuart Semple has taken a few of the companies logo Ducks (in 160cm fiberglass form) and decorated them. They’ll be unveiled during Art Basel Miami Beach, and then will tour Moncler flagship stores before being auction in February. Proceeds of the auction will benefit The Child Priority Foundation.

Looking purely at the base model for the project, it is worth noting a similarity to the public art/statue campaigns led by New York and Chicago with the Art Cows. Same general idea, same general intent. Just a specter of exclusivity thrown on top. (Via This.Hearts.On.Fire).
