The latest Year of the Tiger themed product to be unveiled is the preceding Blazer Low from Nike. Featured in sapphire blue with a white Swoosh and ample white tiger print details, this one sure is a head turner. Not sure if it’s head turning in quite the right way though..

Designed to showcase Converse’s most coveted product, the Converse First String collections are focused on original silhouettes, modern design, premium construction, high-level distribution and occasional collaborations with originals in art, design, fashion and culture. The Converse First String Standards collection is not done in collaboration, but is a collection of very special, hand-picked silhouettes mined from the Converse archives, and re-considered.

Using what is the signature Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette for First String, this shoe echoes the familiar Chuck, but has unique features like higher rubber rands, a vintage rubber license plate logo and a premium comfort system. Originally made for the military in the 1960s, the First String versions have a clean modern feel with monochromatic rubber outsoles and chambray uppers with contrast stitching. The Converse First String Standards Chuck Taylor All Star shoes will be available late February and come in low-top blue or black chambray versions. A purple version will debut later in the year. Look out for a release at Undefeated and Ubiq in the coming weeks.

Here comes a first preview of two projects that LA artist Slick has been working on. He got together with XLarge Japan and with adidas Originals. With XLarge he worked on the “Live Paint” t-shirt, which comes out at the “Live Paint” event on February 25th. The event takes place at the XLarge Harajuku store. Furthermore Slick got together with adidas Originals to work on a windbreaker jacket, a t-shirt and also the Artillery Mid sneaker. Hopefully we can soon show you better images of the collaborative project.

Reebok presents as part of their Spring 2010 Collection the Hawaiian Pack. The pack consists of the Court Victory Pump and the Insta Pump Fury. Both come in overall 4 colorways, featuring strong colors and flower/surf pattern details, inspired by Hawaii. The pack will be available from Atmos as of February 19th.

The Nike Jordan 1 Alpha comes in a special “Tinker Hatfield” edition for Spring 2010. The upper comes in off-white, the Swoosh in black and the lining in a contrasting orange. A special dedication is placed on the inner soles, reading “The First To Bring Color To The Game” and “Thank You”. Wish will be releasing the sneaker on February 15th.

Just in time for Mardi Gras and to celebrate the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl win, New Balance introduces the Mardi Gras 525. Remaining true to the comfort and light-weight design specific to New Balance, the 525 and offers detailed design and accents especially for Mardi Gras, including a fleur de lis symbol on the heel tab, a festive mask image on the shoe insert and three beads on the shoelaces. Available in white or black versions with hits of green, purple and gold.

Following a successful first season, PUMA continues the Urban Mobility Collection into FW’10 under the creative direction of Hussein Chalayan. Embracing the concept of minimalism in urban living, Chalayan infuses each sneaker with understated functionality. Styles include the Urban Flyer, Urban Flyer Fold (a slip-on variant) and Urban Motus. The Motus (pictured above) is our pick of the litter, with clean suede chukka boot styling and subtle branding.

PUMA provided designer Sadia Rafique with the iconic First Round silhouette and she went to work – handpicking fabrics, colors, trims, laces, print techniques, and designing an accompanying shoe bag. The final design features transfers of Sadia’s ink drawings and poetic messaging in black, white, and pink, enhanced by LOT 78’s quality soft leather and suede. Limited to 400 pairs. The high top Astronaut sneaker by Raf Simons returns for Spring/Summer 2010 in two new colorways. It comes in all black and also in a multicolor version, using several premium leather on the upper. Both colorways of the sneaker are now available at Barneys.
