Ahead of next week's premiere at the Venice Film Festival, 20th Century Fox shares a new trailer for James Gray's much-anticipated space epic, Ad Astra. The film will be making its way to IMAX theaters upon releasing next month, as the on-hand IMAX trailer hones in on the vastness of space.

Brad Pitt stars in Ad Astra as Army Corps engineer Roy McBride. When his astronaut father (played by Tommy Lee Jones) winds up lost in space, Roy embarks on an ambitious mission to Neptune to locate his dad.

The new trailer for the film gives us a better sense of why Jones' character mysteriously disappeared, while simultaneously teasing the threat that lurks in space.

Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland star alongside Pitt and Jones in Ad Astra, which comes to theaters September 20.
