Buy: BEAMS & Reebok (07/07)

Editor’s Notes: Reebok and BEAMS are reuniting for the first time since the laceless Club C they dropped in 2021 for yet another iteration of the same archival silhouette.

Unlike last time, when they stripped things back, this season BEAMS and Reebok are adding to the Club C and making it swole. Literally.

Aptly titled the Club C Bulc, the crisp white sneaker features all the characteristics we’ve come to expect from a traditional Club C (a rubberized toe cap and rubber midsole and outsole), but as the name suggests, everything is just a little, well, bulkier.

The reason behind the Club C's enlargement is down to Reebok's history of being utilized as unofficial skate shoes and, most commonly, the Club C. Paying homage to this, BEAMS have crafted an overbuilt version of the sneaker and one that embodies the archetypal aesthetic of skate shoes from the ‘90s and 2000s, with a padded tongue and fat set of laces.

BEAMS also wanted to make a sneaker that worked with baggier clothing, so having a chunky shoe that won't get lost in an ensemble of loose-fitting garments makes perfect sense.

In truth, the Club C Bulc, at its core, an exaggerated version of the original Club C. And while the haters might call this a lazy collaboration (they're never happy!), the term "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" springs to mind.

In that vein, long live the Club C, I say, no matter what state it arrives in!
