Brand: Fear of God ESSENTIALS

Season: Spring/Summer 2023

Buy: Online at SSENSE, Mr Porter

Editor's Notes: 'Tis the season — more specifically, Fear of God ESSENTIALS season.

It's been a while since we heard from the Fear of God sub-label. After a huge Fall '22 release, ESSENTIALS then dropped off the Core collection in November of last year. Since then, the brand's been relatively quiet — until today, that is.

ESSENTIALS unveiled its Spring/Summer 2023 lookbook, photographed by Erik Ian. Models, including Jerry Lorenzo's son, flexed the brand's latest gear with leg warmers and dance flats.

For ESSENTIALS SS23, balletcore meets Lorenzo's world of understated staples for a collection that's quite on pointe (like the ballet shoe).

ESSENTIALS SS23 will see yet another full family run in a tasteful seasonal palette of beiges, browns, mint green, grey, and yellow (sycamore, seal, plum, sand, and light Tuscan, according to Lorenzo's color wheel).

ESSENTIALS SS23 naturally reissues coveted fan-favorites — sweatpants, sweatshirts, hoodies, and tees — in the collection's fresh hues.

Plush skirts, corduroy cargos, nylon trousers, roomy vests, and polos are also among the mix. Interestingly, ESSENTIALS SS23 also offers turtlenecks and quite a few puffer jackets.

I mean, I get it. Those pieces are likely there for the transitional weather (the cool mornings and breezy evenings). Plus, the weather is so wishy-washy these days (one day is warm and sunny, and the next is a snowstorm).

Jerry Lorenzo is just trying to ensure the ESSENTIALS heads are straight and cozy, no matter the weather.

For fans looking to beef up their ESSENTIALS collection, Fear of God ESSENTIALS SS23 lands on March 8 on the brand's website, followed by a second delivery on April 5.
